Church in Europe Contenuto disponibile in Italiano Lent: COMECE, three celebrations in Brussels on Ash Wednesday. “Open your heart to your neighbour”

Bishop Hoogenboom(Brussels) Tomorrow, 1 March, the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Community (COMECE) is setting up three Eucharistic celebrations for MEPs and officers in Brussels, on Ash Wednesday; at the end of those celebrations, it will be possible to get the Ashes, and thus start the Lent. At 8.30 am, Secretary General of COMECE Father Olivier Poquillon is celebrating a Mass in the chapel of the European Parliament; at 12.30, the Mass will be at COMECE’s headquarters (Square de Meeûs, 19/1), celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop of Utrecht Msgr. Theodorus Hoogenboom. In the Resurrection Chapel (known also as the Chapel for Europe), a Eucharistic celebration at 1.15 pm and an ecumenical celebration at 6 pm are scheduled. “Following the image of the parable of the rich man and poor Lazarus”, it is said at COMECE’s website, Pope Francis “invites each of us to listen to God and follow the Word of God”, during “this path to Easter, paving the way of our heart to our neighbour, and in particular, to the poor, the ones in need”.
