Human trafficking a major Church concern — Vatican

Archbishop Bernardito Auza  Human trafficking is a primary concern of the Roman Catholic church, according to the Vatican’s chief delegate to the United Nations.

Visiting Filipino Archbishop Bernardito Auza, the Vatican’s permanent observer to the UN, said human trafficking is a primary concern for the church because this is a form of slavery.

“There has never been as many people enslaved as there is now. There is an estimated 45 million people in the world in traffic even as we speak. Just imagine the extent of that,” he said on the last day of the Philippine Conference on New Evangelization on Sunday.
