On June 4, Archbishop Bernardito Auza, Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations, gave opening remarks at a conference at UN Headquarters entitled, “The Protection and Integration of Migrants in
Giugno 2018
The Marian anniversary (31 May) of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary to her cousin Elizabeth has just passed click here and already there are two important festivals for us Catholics, Body and Blood of Christ "Corpus Domini" (Sun 3 June) click here and then the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus (8 June): feasts recalling the "physicality" of the Lord Jesus, Man and God. click here The devotions, still very present in the popular tradition, concern the Catholic Church but, similarly, the Orthodox Churches: the Eucharist, in fact, even if with some historical and liturgical difference in the celebrations is in any case the "concrete" center of our commune Faith in the Lord, who - through the Sacred Species - communicates to each of the faithful and in this way generates a bond between the individuals and thus creates "His People", the Church, by grace. The following study is interesting, though full of "subtleties" for scholars, nevertheless a testimony of the common faith in the Real Presence of Christ in bread and wine, after the consecration performed by the priest: click here Other important events: June 13 - St. Anthony of Padua http://www.santantonio.org/it/basilica (with webcam) June 24 - Nativity of St. John the Baptist 29 June - Saints Peter and Paul Basilica Apostolorum, or San Sebastiano, where in the early centuries the relics of Saints Peter and Paul were venerated http://www.catacombe.org/basilica.html --------------------- For cycling fans (but not only) we want to propose various "links" dedicated to the recent Tour of Italy 2018 whose three first stages were held in Israel (therefore with an ideal link between Jerusalem and Rome), dedicated to the figure of the great Gino Bartali, awarded the title of Righteous among the Nations; while a start in the Middle East (Jordan, etc.) is planned for the next one in 2019; we will also see and hope for this significant future event. Recall that Gino Bartali was not only a great sports champion, but also and above all a faithful and very active Christian, particularly in Catholic Action in hard and risky times, as well as a devotee of the Holy Mary and Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus (as it can well be verified in the various biographies). click here It is our own Christian history that makes us attentive and mindful of the places where it all began (the Holy Land and much of the Middle East and North Africa) where unfortunately, even in our day, bloody conflicts and wars are renewed. so much suffering provokes in those lands so dear and precious to our eyes. For this reason we want to be attentive day by day to what takes place in Israel, Palestine, Turkey, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Egypt (and in other places and with people further away from us in Africa and Asia) thinking and praying for all our brothers in the faith so that they remain strong in their presence and witness, while we sincerely hope that those who persecute them have the heart touched by the Lord and resist the diabolical temptations of those who inspire discords and wars. Finally, for obvious historical and religious reasons, let us not forget all of "our" Western "Europe with the" EU "so subject to cultural and financial powers far from the Christian Faith and not even Eastern Europe, Bohemia, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia , Hungary, etc. but above all Russia and Ukraine whose populations confess the Christian faith in the historical and liturgical forms of the respective Orthodox Churches for over a millennium. Even in this broad sector there are civil and political problems, nor nationalistic contrasts, but we always look with sympathy to people who in the recent past (the twentieth century, in particular) have suffered greatly to preserve the faith and the popular and cultural traditions consequential. In the coming months, the summer season, with school holidays and holidays from work, will inspire the possibility of travels and pilgrimages to remember and then tell, in countries and among peoples that particularly interest us; here we like to suggest a very varied and well qualified choice: click here We hope that our Friends readers (old and new) can appreciate the little news introduced on our site: with the "colorful" page "general wall" (more the others in different languages) http://www.orientecristiano.it/rassegna-stampa-view.html ; moreover we have modified the HomePage, more updated and synthetic http://www.orientecristiano.it/ completing also the tag "sostienici" http://www.orientecristiano.it/sostienici.html with definitions, cookies and new legislation on "privacy" ". Finally, we would like to invite our faithful readers (or "novices"), who can and wish to support our work, to always support us with prayer and - if possible - also economically, as suggested here: http://www.orientecristiano.it/sostienici.html Thank you for your attention and best wishes and best wishes, in Christ |
