Non solo rapimenti, agguati e omicidi in strada: il massacro dei cristiani a Mosul ora continua attraverso dei veri e propri rastrellamenti casa per casa. Vittime dell'ennesimo attentato sono due ragazzi cristiani, fratelli di un sacerdote siro cattolico, padre Mazen Ishoa che, a sua volta, nell'ottobre 2007 era stato sequestrato e poi rilasciato. I due giovani sono stati uccisi ieri, secondo quanto riferisce il sito Baghdadhope, nella loro casa di Mosul da individui sconosciuti che vi hanno fatto irruzione. Mons. Shlemon Warduni, vicario patriarcale caldeo di Baghdad, nel riferire la notizia, ha parlato di "uccisione a sangue freddo" dei giovani e che "forse nell'attacco è rimasto colpito anche il padre". "Bisogna muovere le coscienze di tutti - è l'appello accorato di mons. Warduni - per fermare questo massacro. Dov'è la coscienza? Dove sono i diritti umani? Cosa n'è dell'uomo se due innocenti possono essere uccisi nella loro casa? Chi compie questi crimini? Perchè?". Per il sito Baghdadhope, sempre ben informato sulle vicende della comunità cattolica caldea, si tratta di "domande senza risposte". A Mosul gli studenti cristiani iscritti all'Università non stanno frequentando le lezioni per paura di attentati come già successo agli inizi di gennaio, quando ad essere presi di mira con esplosivi erano stati gli autobus che li trasportavano in città.

"We must move everybody’s conscience – this is mgr. Warduni’s heart-felt appeal – to stop this massacre. Where is conscience? Where are human rights? What is of man if two innocent people can be killed in their home? Who commits such crimes? Why?” According to the website Baghdadhope, which is always very well informed about what happens in the Chaldean Catholic community, these are “questions without answers”. In Mosul, the Christian students enrolled in the local university are not attending their classes for fear of attacks, as it happened in early January, when explosives were aimed at the buses that drove them to town.
