THE CHRISTIAN ROOTS OF EUROPE. 80 UNIVERSITY STUDENTS IN MOSCOW

A pilgrimage to Moscow and Saint Petersburg as a journey in search of the Christian roots of Europe. This is the tour that will be covered by the about eighty scholarship holders of the Catholic University Centre, established by the Italian Bishops Conference as part of the National Service Culture, to help young people who want to embark on an academic career. The journey will begin on September 6th and will end on 13th: it is - states a release from the Italian Bishops Conference - part of a cultural process that began about three years ago with the pilgrimage to the Holy Land, especially Jerusalem, the symbol of Christianity. The young will be led to discover the "visible traces of European Christianity" by a conference of historian Adriano Roccucci, due to take place in Moscow on September 9th. In addition, the young will meet the Apostolic Nuncio, mgr. Antonio Mennin, and the archbishop of Moscow, mgr. Paolo Pezzi. The will visit the Monastery of Novodevici, the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, the Kremlin and the Red Square, the Monastery of Danilovsky. They should also meet the archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, deputy-president of the External Relations Department of the Patriarchate of Moscow. In Saint Petersburg, the journey will include a visit to the Monastery of Alexander Nevski and the Cathedral of the Trinity.
