"Western Balkans’ European Integration: Promise of peace or source of development”? is the title of the document prepared by COMECE in view of the summit meeting in Sofia next May 17. It involves six Countries that are longtime members of the European family, with a rich religious and cultural tradition, but which are also facing numerous challenges. The document states that the Churches and religious communities in Europe have a key role to play in the European integration process, while stronger EU commitment will further the advancement of peace in the martyred region.
