"I extend to your Excellency and to all our beloved Muslims the deepest heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of the blessed Eid El-Adha," Pope Tawadros said in a message to El-Sisi.

The pope prayed to God to support the president in achieving further success in developing Egypt and countering the different challenges facing the nation.

Pope Tawadros also congratulated Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El-Tayyeb on Eid, wishing him success in continuing the "enlightening role of spreading awareness, the values of tolerance and the culture of peace, citizenship and coexistence."

The pope extended Eid greetings to Minister of Religious Endowments Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa and Grand Mufti Shawki Allam.
