Andrew's "caput"..

Legend has it that St Andrew's head was once stolen from Constantinople and brought along to Rome . The pope of the time, Pius II, was so obsessed by this event that not only did he write about it in his biography but decided to be present in person at the arrival of the head in town. For this reason he had a platform built at Ponte Milvio where as history relates he stayed for about three days, crying, screaming and delivering speeches ...Fortunately history also relates that almost five centuries later a twentieth century pope, Paul VI, returned this head to Constantinople .
